Earthrise

So it is 2 AM 

I watch the full moon

wondering

what I would see

if I sat on the moon

watching Earth

would I see me

sitting on the stoep.

Would I see

any of 7 billion me's

would I see light

will it be dark

I am the San

of the moon

I was here first

I watch the blue God

appearing fortnightly

I thirst

to be with

the blue God

I once traveled

to the dark side

as legend told us

and I was

exhausted

after 14 days

to just find light

and the blue God

bobbing gently

in the black sky

mocking me

calling me

and I wondered

am I alone

are we alone

here on this desert

what if

there were others

like us

what if they lived

in a paradise

on the blue God

and I shuddered

thinking

they would be giants

and they

would eat San

and I

shudder

looking at the moon

thinking

what if

they were

watching

me
