you have to

believe me

everything

is the truth

Some days ago

I again offered

my services

as a

volunteer

to help

the refugees

of the

latest Xenophobic attacks

I was dejected

I was hurt

I was told

to leave

because

I wanted

to give the refugees

warm tea in the morning

instead of cold juice

I was scorned

rebuked

and warned

I left dejected

I swore I would

give them tea

without their help

but how

just had to repair

wife's car

money is tight

I do not have to give

only myself

and my energy

This morning

I went to the camp

found

meals on wheels

there

and offered my help

instead I was

asked

for a gas stove

I do not have

sent the wife a mail

went to local hardware

begging

for a gas stove

They gave

the whole shebang

full gas bottle included

sent a guy with me

to deliver

arrived at the camp

and there is this

bubbly young SABC journalist

asking us about

our presence

just to find out

she is the daughter

of an old time friend

and journalist colleague

got home

told wifey good news

she informed me

someone

else

donated Two more

gas stoves

I am elated

I am overjoyed

out of

nothing

my prayers

were answered

with abundance

from despair

to walking on air

in an instant

praise be
