History

Adios

RIP

We said good bye
the red dust swirled
covering her
it was sad
an old lady
resting at last
peaceful
a mother
a grandmother
and she was honoured
her grandson
honoured her
she was
a domestic worker
raised a domestic worker
the man
who honoured
and loved her
his mother
died violently
he was raised
by the white family
his mother worked for
when she was killed
stabbed to death
This boy grew up
asked me
for the hand
of my daughter
he came by Taxi
respectful, brave
he honoured
my conditions
waited seven years
before starting
a family
of his own
now he
stands proud
heartbroken
but proud
next to her
final resting place
his grandmother
was given
a proper
goodbye
by her
grandson
No cost
 was spared
he did
the right thing
because he could
because he
became
his own man
building
his own legacy
the son
of
a domestic worker
and I
thank God
for such a man
the father
of my grandchild
because I know
he is capable
he will provide
and I
do not see
his colour
I see
his worth
I am
Proud
Aaron
to know
you
